The Story Behind Joanie's
Owner Jason Day opened the original Joanie's on St. Andrews Drive in 2019, just before the pandemic, and added a second location on the Public Square after building a following there. The restaurant is named for his mother, Joanie.
Joanie's leans into nostalgia, with 1990s music videos on the TV and pop-culture character signs handed out in place of order numbers. In January 2026, Day announced that Joanie's is expanding into the neighboring space at 11 S. Public Square, adding a second coffee bar, a lounge-style room and more seating, along with an expanded beer and wine list.
