The Rutherford County Walk to End Alzheimer's returns to the Middle Tennessee State University campus on Saturday, October 17, 2026, bringing walkers, teams and families together to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. The morning begins at 8:00 a.m. at the MTSU Hayes Soccer Complex, 1568 Greenland Dr. in Murfreesboro.

The Rutherford County walk has set a fundraising goal of $250,000 for 2026. As of September 13, the event's page showed $80,545 raised, roughly a third of the way to the target with five weeks to go.

Walk to End Alzheimer's Schedule

According to the Alzheimer's Association, the morning runs on this schedule:

  • 8:00 a.m. β€” Venue opens and on-site registration begins
  • 9:00 a.m. β€” Promise Garden Ceremony
  • 9:30 a.m. β€” Walk to End Alzheimer's

The Promise Garden Ceremony

The Promise Garden Ceremony is a signature part of Walk to End Alzheimer's events. It takes place at 9:00 a.m., just before the walk begins, and gives participants a shared moment to recognize the people in their lives affected by the disease.

How to Take Part

Participants register through the Alzheimer's Association's online event page, where they can walk individually, start a team or join an existing one, and collect donations. On-site registration is also available when the venue opens at 8:00 a.m. The Association's page does not list a registration fee or a fundraising minimum.

All money raised supports the Alzheimer's Association.

Getting There

The walk is held at the MTSU Hayes Soccer Complex on Greenland Drive, on the east side of the Middle Tennessee State University campus. Visitors unfamiliar with campus should allow extra time to find parking before on-site registration opens.
