When is the Rutherford County Farmers Market open?

The Rutherford County Farmers Market is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 a.m. to noon from the second Friday in May through the last Friday in October, with select Tuesday evening markets from 2 to 7 p.m. From November through April it runs Fridays only, 8 a.m. to noon, indoors at the Lane Agri-Park Community Center in Murfreesboro.

That winter schedule is the market's distinction. The Murfreesboro Saturday Market on the Square closes after October, so from November to April this is the farmers market in Murfreesboro, and it is under a roof. In season the two complement each other: Lane Agri-Park on Tuesday and Friday mornings, the Square on Saturday.

The market is a program of UT Extension Rutherford County and has operated since 1975. It is producer-only, which means every vendor grew, raised or made what is on the table. Vendors come from more than 15 Middle Tennessee counties and sell seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, baked and canned goods, flowers, plants, shrubs and trees.

Where Is the Market, and Where Do You Park?

The market is held in the indoor and open-air Community Center at Lane Agri-Park, 315 John R. Rice Blvd, off Old Fort Parkway on the west side of Murfreesboro, next to the Rutherford County Extension office (Suite 101 of the same address). The park has its own parking lot, and the covered building means the market goes on in rain and cold.

Lane Agri-Park is a county facility with fields and trails as well as the Community Center; see our Lane Agri-Park listing and the Murfreesboro parks guide.

What Can You Buy, and How Do You Pay?

On the tables

Seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, baked and canned goods, cut flowers, plants, shrubs and trees. Because the market is producer-only, what is on the tables tracks the Middle Tennessee growing season: greens, plants and strawberries in spring; tomatoes, corn, peaches and melons in summer; pumpkins, winter squash, sweet potatoes and mums in fall; meats, eggs, baked goods and storage crops through the winter Fridays.

Payment

Cash, credit, debit and SNAP/EBT are accepted. Participating farmers take WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers in July and August. Individual vendors set their own card policies, so a little cash still helps at small stands.

Farms that sell at Rutherford County markets include Triple A Farms in Rockvale, which also keeps its own stand on Highway 99. For supermarkets and specialty grocers in town, see our Murfreesboro grocery guide.

What Does Producer-Only Mean for Vendors?

UT Extension's vendor rules say “only producer-only items listed in your completed application can be sold at the RCFM.” Anything not on the approved list needs the manager's advance approval. Vendors complete an application packet (rules, a Producer-Vendor Certification, farm map instructions and a farm self-help form; partnerships sign a partnership form) and keep copies of any local, state or federal permits their products need.

A mandatory vendor meeting opens each season; in 2026 it was held March 17 at 8 a.m. at Lane Agri-Park. Prospective vendors should contact market manager Hannah Bleam at RCFM@rutherfordcountytn.gov or (615) 898-7710.

Tips for a First Visit

  • Go early on Friday: the market opens at 7 a.m. in season and the best produce goes first.
  • Bring your own bags and a cooler for meats and eggs if you have errands afterward.
  • Check the season calendar for the Tuesday evening dates before an after-work trip.
  • In winter, the Friday market is indoors, so it runs regardless of weather.
  • Pair it with the Saturday Market on the Square for a two-market weekend from May through October.
