About Alive Hospice - Murfreesboro
Alive Hospice operates the Alive Hospice Murfreesboro Residence, a 16-bed hospice facility at 1629 Williams Dr in Murfreesboro. Alive is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit based in Nashville and describes itself as the only nonprofit end-of-life care provider in Middle Tennessee. The Murfreesboro Residence provides residential hospice, general inpatient hospice and respite care for hospice patients, with care available around the clock when a patient needs to be stabilized or a caregiver needs a break. Alive designs its residences to feel like home, with private rooms that all have windows, a garden courtyard, family gathering areas, home-cooked meals, and room for visitors; families are encouraged to stay as long as they like and to dine at the residence, and residents may bring favorite belongings. The same building houses Alive's Murfreesboro office, the base for the Rutherford County hospice home-care team, which serves patients where they live. The hospice care team includes a nurse, doctor, certified nursing assistant, social worker, chaplain and volunteers, and Alive works with a patient's current physician and specialists. Grief counseling and community education programs are offered from the Murfreesboro site throughout the year. Alive's grief support is open to anyone in the community who has lost someone significant, not only families of its patients; youth and family programs are free apart from camp and the family retreat, individual counseling is on a sliding scale, and Rutherford County is one of five counties served by its school-based grief support program.
