About The Country Gourmet
The Country Gourmet is a locally owned, family-owned and women-owned specialty gift shop at 107 E Main Street in Historic Downtown Murfreesboro, founded in 1991. The business began when Karen, known locally as "the bread lady," was baking and delivering sourdough bread and a customer asked her to put some goodies in a basket for Christmas; she and Chris later opened the storefront on Main Street. Today the shop carries more than 3,000 items, from gourmet chocolates and candies to Tennessee and Murfreesboro gifts such as courthouse mugs, a Murfreesboro puzzle and local coffee. Gift baskets are its specialty. Customers can pick a ready-made basket such as Hometown Favorites or Breakfast Down South, choose items for a custom basket, or name a budget, with one-of-a-kind baskets from $75 to $150 and a Party in a Box starting at $200. Baskets that ship are shrink-wrapped, and gift boxes are available for office, men's and bereavement gifts. The Country Gourmet also releases a limited-edition Murfreesboro ornament each year, plus a church ornament series, and its 2026 ornament premiere party is set for Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. The shop delivers within Murfreesboro city limits and ships nationwide.
